about

Amkoullel, Issiaka Bâ, is one of the most talented and militant of Malian rappers of his generation. Amkoullel took his stage name from a novel by one of Mali’s most noted authors Amadou Hampaté Bâ in order to pay homage to all African cultures. Amkoullel formed his first rap group in 1993 and has now released four albums of politicized hip hop that fuses traditional African instruments with jazz and rock whilst rapping about issues ranging from education to African unity. As the title suggests, Vote deals with the importance and the power of the VOTE and how it is one of the most powerful weapons the public has to force leaders to make the right choices for the benefit of the people.
