Hailing from Kibera, the largest slum in Africa, Octopizzo has risen to become one of the most successful hip hop artists and social music entrepreneurs in Kenya. Octopizzo is the founder of C.B.O. and the youth collective Y.G.B. (Young, Gifted, and Black) and it is this work, using music as a means of affecting social transformation, that Octopizzo has become known for both across Africa and further afield playing with the likes of Dead Prez, Killa Priest and Black Twang. His music often reflects the issues he is involved in fighting; the eradication of extreme poverty and oppression, HIV and AIDS, peace and reconciliation and gender based violence.
